Dubai International Airport

Dubai
United Arab Emirates
In just 30 years, Dubai International Airport has grown from a small local airfield into a global aviation hub. The development is the result of the far-sighted visions of the late ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Today, not only is Dubai Airport one of the fastest growing airports in the world, it is also recognized as the aviation hub of the Middle East and it now stands at the threshold of being among the top 10 airports in the world. The Airports Council International (ACI) traffic statistics have ranked Dubai International Airport as one of the fastest growing airports in the world.

Anticipating the travel demands of the 21st century, the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) commenced an expansion program which was completed with the opening of the Sheikh Rashid Terminal. To meet the cooling demands of the new terminal, the DCA turned to YORK for the quality of our products and for our excellent service capabilities and purchased 5 York 2000 ton YK centrifugal chiller units operating with environmentally friendly refrigerant HFC-134a.

According to projections, 60 million passengers are expected to use Dubai International Airport by 2010. With these figures in mind, the DCA began the 2nd phase of expansion with scheduled completion in 2006. Due to the proven reliability of the YORK centrifugal chiller units operating in the Sheikh Rashid Terminal and their appreciation of YORK’s after service, the DCA again chose York International as their preferred HVAC supplier to handle the cooling requirements of their new terminal and associated buildings and placed an order with York Dubai for a total of 59 York YK and CYK centrifugal chillers with a total cooling capacity of 118,000 tons. All the new York chillers will use environmentally friendly refrigerant HFC-134a.
