A split system air conditioning system has two parts: an indoor unit with a cooling coil and an outdoor unit with a condensing coil. The indoor unit includes an air handler that will circulate through your home. Indoor and outdoor units are designed to work together. When the air conditioner is properly matched with an air handler, you get maximum efficiency and longer system life.

A heat pump and air handler combination integrates an air handler and indoor heat pump coil inside, along with a heat pump coil outside. The indoor and outdoor units are designed to work together. When the heat pump is properly matched with the air handler, you get maximum efficiency in mild climates and longer system life.
