The high cost of energy concerns nearly everyone, and homeowners are always investigating how to save energy at home. That's why nearly half of YORK® air conditioners, heat pumps and furnaces are built to proudly display the ENERGY STAR® label. This label was created by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Products with the ENERGY STAR® label save at least 15% to 25% more energy than standard products. For example, our ENERGY STAR® qualified 18 SEER air conditioners or heat pumps will cost $56 to provide three tons of cooling compared to $100 with a 10 SEER unit, creating more energy efficient homes. And our 98% AFUE modulating gas furnace will use $69 worth of gas to provide the same amount of heat that would cost $100 with a 70% AFUE gas furnace.
But it's not just YORK® products that lead the way in energy efficiency. Our parent company, Johnson Controls, Inc., has been recognized by the EPA as an ENERGY STAR® Partner. That shows our energy-efficient products and services are helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Awards are given to a variety of organizations to recognize their efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce pollution, resulting in significant cost savings. Award winners are selected from more than 17,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR® program. Last year alone, with the help of ENERGY STAR®, Americans saved $17 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 30 million vehicles.
ENERGY STAR® was introduced by the EPA in 1992 as a voluntary market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through increased energy efficiency. Today, ENERGY STAR® offers businesses and consumers energy-efficient solutions to save energy and money, and help protect the environment for future generations. More than 17,000 organizations are ENERGY STAR® partners committed to improving the energy efficiency of products, homes, buildings and businesses.
